The shake-up brings three key growth sectors under one leadership structure as Mace looks to boost collaboration and sharpen delivery.
Sweeney joins with more than 30 years of experience in manufacturing and engineering, having held senior roles at Turner & Townsend and ISG.
He was most recently interim project director for advanced manufacturing at T&T, covering the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa. Before that, he was a key member of ISG’s hyperscale unit, delivering major data centre, pharma, automotive and logistics jobs.
At Mace, he will drive growth, improve client engagement and steer a more joined-up approach across the three sectors.
The move follows Mace’s appointment on the UK’s New Hospital Programme and comes as it looks to ramp up its life sciences and tech work across the UK, Germany and Switzerland.
Andy Beard, interim MD for Europe at Mace Consult, said: “Bringing Gary in and aligning our sector teams is a big step forward in our growth plans. We’re keeping the focus on service excellence, backed by better collaboration and shared know-how.”
